My Approach
My approach includes spending time getting to know more about your background, collaborating on addressing your needs, and moving at your pace. I incorporate various therapy approaches and other evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help address triggers, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, grief, ambivalence, or other mental health challenges.
My Client focus
I specialize in working with individuals ages 50-65, through various topics such as grief and loss, life adjustments/changes, caregiver stress, isolation, loneliness, changes to physical and mental functioning, and lack of meaning/purpose. To address these, we may further explore distorted ways of thinking, cultural beliefs/expectations, society pressures, helpful/unhelpful coping skills, and process emotions, thoughts, and behaviors to work towards alignment of a healthy and safe lifestyle.
My Communication Style
My communication style includes lending a listening ear, a smile, and empathetic words. I welcome discussion of clear and respectful needs to create a safe and judgement free space. I like to ask what type of communication method you prefer and solicit feedback in sessions so our interactions are pleasant and effective.
How I Help Clients Reach Goals
I believe respect and collaboration with individuals allows an opportunity to make progress towards a goal and improve overall wellbeing. As treatment continues, we monitor your progress towards an initial goal set and continue to work towards reaching them or develop new goals. Throughout session, I share handouts with psychoeducation, healthy coping skills, and resources as needed. Part of treatment includes practicing what we learn in session outside of session to strengthen and build confidence in that area of your life.
My Journey To Becoming a Provider
My personal characteristics align with that of a social worker: empathic, compassionate, helpful, advocate, and patient. For this reason I have pursued professionally helping individuals of all ages in schools, homes, hospitals, long-term skilled nursing facilities, and community mental health clinics. I find meaning in sharing my knowledge and expertise with individuals who seek it. I believe individuals should thrive self-advocate, and feel empowered enough through the work we do and am passionate about being able to guide someone into overall wellness, peace, and happiness.
My First Session With Clients
During our first session we will take time to introduce ourselves and build rapport, identify strengths/challenges, review limits of confidentiality, risks and benefits of treatment, responsibilities, and roles. We will then explore what you would like to prioritize addressing in treatment. Lastly, we will discuss logistics such as scheduling, structure of session, and agree to a plan for moving forward. I look forward to meeting with you!
