My Approach
I am person-centered and view myself as a tool alongside you to help bring about the change you are seeking. Healing is never done in isolation, and I love sprinkling metaphors in our work to help us understand complex feelings and behaviors. I like to view our lives as museums: some rooms hold bright, beautiful pieces, while others hold storage we prefer to ignore. My hope is to help you navigate life's past, present, and future exhibits with curiosity, openness, and hope, ensuring treatment happens entirely on your terms and at your own pace.
My Client focus
I specialize in working with couples, adults, young adults, and families. I am particularly passionate about helping couples reconnect or navigate the painful journey of infertility. I also specialize in working through anxiety, depression, diverse trauma, emotional dysregulation, cultural dissonance, and major life transitions.
My Communication Style
My communication style is warm, collaborative, transparent, and gently challenging. I lead with curiosity and validation, and once trust is built, I am direct to ensure your goals are met. I don’t believe in leaving clients in the dark, so I will gently name the patterns I see in the room—because that is often where real, transformative work begins
How I Help Clients Reach Goals
We start by setting clear goals together centered around why you are beginning therapy. Our sessions balance in-the-moment emotional work with reflection on the underlying patterns driving distress. For couples, we slow down the negative cycle you get caught in right in session. I check in regularly on our progress, assign "food for thought" between sessions, and adjust our course collaboratively.
My Journey To Becoming a Provider
As a Brazilian American woman who has lived in both countries and moved across the U.S., I personally navigated struggles with belonging, identity, and career burnout before pursuing therapy. Experiencing how my own cultural background shaped my perception of self and relationships inspired me to help others do the same. After deepening my studies in marriage and family therapy, I found my true calling in guiding individuals and couples into alignment and peace.
My First Session With Clients
Expect a genuine conversation, not an interrogation. We will explore what brings you in, relevant history, and what you hope to change, prioritizing that you leave feeling heard and validated. For couples, the first session focuses on understanding your relationship story from both perspectives so no one feels like "the problem".
